Q - What is an "ad lib" in acting?

A - An ad lib or ad libitum (Latin for "at ones pleasure") in acting is an improvised line by the actor which deviates from the existing movie or television script. Seemingly more common in comedies but is sometimes used if appropriate in any genre.
