What is the foreground in art?

Today's Art Q and A

Q - What is the foreground in art?

A - The foreground in art is the use of objects or person that is placed nearest the viewer. The use of a foreground helps add to the sense of depth in a painting as a point of comparison to objects placed further away from the viewer.
