What are pencils made of?

Today's Q and A

Q - What are pencils made of?

A - The average pencil is made up of non toxic graphite and clay which is used as a binder. Cedar wood is the most common wood used in pencils and the eraser is typically made of synthetic rubber. There is also a metal feral at one end which holds the eraser in place. Most pencils are painted yellow, with some indication of the hardness or softness of the graphite core as well the brand name.
