A - Minimalism in art was a movement that developed in the 1960's that emphasized basic forms and structures in art focusing on the essence of the rendering. The overall idea of minimalism is on simplicity of shape and form. Minimalism was a reaction to expressionist abstract forms that preceded the minimalist movement.
