How did the sending of Christmas cards begin?

Today's Q and A

Q - How did the sending of Christmas cards begin?

A - The first Christmas card was sent in Great Britain by Sir Henry Cole in 1843 from a card commissioned from friend and narrative artist John Callcutt Horsley. Some 1,000 of these Christmas cards - which were a lithographed triptych design on cardboard, were sold in London for 1 schilling a piece.
