A - Actor Ray Bolger played the Scarecrow character. Ray began his career in vaudeville and was known for his talents in song and dance as well as being an accomplished actor. His first movie role as a song and dance man was in "Sweethearts" (1938), which stared Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy.
