A - An easy idea for creating foliage in landscapes is with the use of a sea sponge dampened with paint. You can build up layers of paint by letting each layer dry before adding more detail. Sponges can be used to create trees and brush foliage. Lighter values of paint can be added firstly, and then proceed with darker values of paint as desired.
In the example below a light mix of green, blue and yellow was applied with a sponge to the paper and lifted with a paper towel on the right side of the foliage to indicate a light source. After the layer was dry a second layer of dark green was applied to the left sides of the trees to reinforce a light source coming from the right.
