Today's Art Q and A
Q - What is luminism in art?
A - Luminism in art refers to the style of painting reflected in the works primarily from the Hudson River school of American east coast landscape artists from 1850 to 1870. The emphasis of this style was the use of strongly contrasting light and darks to create a soft, glowing landscape usually with an assertion of tertiary colors. Brushstrokes tended to be less painterly apart from impressionist styles and tended to be somewhat more blended into the canvas.
