A - Social realism is an attempt to convey a social or political comment or opinion that is expressed in an artwork. Social realism is also found in other media such as photography or literature. Works that represented social realism focused on the plight of the poor and oppressed. The most active period of art occurred in the 20th century during the two world wars.
